Shoppers spot new sweets inspired by flavour of beloved fruit soft drink on shelves at Co-op

SWEET-LOVERS are racing to their local Co-op to get their hands on Vimto’s new fizzy bottles.

Food blogging page Newsfoodsuk on Facebook recently revealed the good news – delighting confectionery cravers across the country.

The anonymous account wrote: “New Vimto Fizzy Bottles!! These are spot on! Vimto flavour on point! We got these from Co-Op!”

Their glowing review prompted tonnes of comments, with several eager foodies tagging each other.

One of the group’s 387,000 followers wrote: “Going to have to look for these now”, while others proceeded to like the post.

They did not give away how much the sour sweets are going for but it is assumed the retailer will list it on the Co-op website soon.

The British company was founded in Manchester in 1908, and its vibrant purple colouring became famous soon after.

This comes after gobsmacked Brits realised that people have been pronouncing the name of the soft drink manufacturer wrong for years.

The fruity beverage seems simple enough to pronounce but people get it wrong everyday.

It turns out that many of us say ‘Vimpto’ rather than Vimto… which isn’t not what the manufacturer intended.

This comes after people spotted a billboard revealing the true pronunciation.

The sarky ad read: “Changing our name to Vimpto… seeing as you all pronounce it that way.”

The revelation sparked a debate among social media users who had no idea they’d be adding in the ‘P’ without realising.

It’s now been 116 years since the drink first hit our shelves and the company is no stranger to shaking things up in its product line.

Back in March, eagle-eyed Tesco shoppers spotted a new flavour of the Vimto drink.

A savvy shopper posted the exciting discovery in a Facebook group, shortly after locating the find.

A pack of six mini bottles (250ml) was selling for just £3 across the chain.

The popular drink was first released in 1908 and soon transformed into the familiar yet distinct flavour loved by everyone.

The tropical flavour is the latest addition to Vimto’s range which includes the original flavour and various fruit combinations.
