Dyson Unveils $500 Customizable ANC Headphones

Dyson has debuted their second foray into headphone technology– while the tech company released their Zone headphones in 2022, the polarizing product was a pair of headphones attached to an air-purifying mask, all for nearly $1000. The newly revealed OnTrac noise-canceling headphones retail for a bit cheaper at $499.99, and seem to feature an emphasis on function and aesthetics that one would expect from the multinational company.
The revealed specs don’t disappoint, with up to 55 hours of continuous battery life, on-head detection, and 40mm drivers that Dyson claims “reproduce frequencies from as low as 6Hz to as high as 21,000Hz, providing deep sub-bass that you can feel, and clear highs at the upper end of the frequency range.” Further, Dyson calls OnTrac’s noise canceling “best-in-class,” utilizing an eight-microphone system.
Specs aside, the real claim to fame for the OnTrac is customization. While the new headphones come in four colorway options (CNC Aluminum, CNC Copper, CNC Black Nickel, and Ceramic Cinnabar), there are more options available than that would imply. Dyson is offering seven different ear cushion color options, as well as seven outer cup options, all of which can be mixed and matched. These can be purchased separately for $49.99, and result in what Dyson says are “over 2,000 customizable color combinations for outer caps and ear cushions.”
