Yager was drafted by the Penguins last summer.

The Penguins have signed Brayden Yager, their top prospect, to a three-year, entry level contract.

Yager was drafted by the Penguins last summer with the 14th pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

The 19-year-old forward spent the last four seasons playing for the Moose Jaw Warriors in the WHL and posted career highs this past year with 60 assists, 35 goals, and 95 points.

He added 11 goals, 16 assists, and 27 points in 20 postseason games and was named to the Memorial Cup All-Star Team.

In total with Moose Jaw, Yager scored 104 goals, 146 assists, and 250 points in 211 games.

Everyone’s favorite analyst Jesse Marshall has described Yager’s playing style similar to that of James Neal, but notes that Yager doesn’t carry some of the bad qualities, like a lack of discipline.

Yager made some flashy plays during the team’s development camp earlier this month, but it’s unclear whether he’s likely to make the NHL roster or not.
