The Republican Party is riding a wave of unity and optimism as the 2024 election approaches.

In an exclusive interview with The American Spectator, Rep. Kevin Hern of Oklahoma, the chairman of the Republican Study Committee, shared his insights on the current state of the Republican Party. (READ MORE: The Bloodless Coup of Joe Biden Will Not Work Out Well for Democrats)

The attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump has galvanized and united the Republican Party. Last week, Hern attended his first RNC Convention, describing it as “inspirational to see everyone coming together.”

He added: “Just 72 hours after the assassination attempt, seeing Trump full of spirit… in front of hundreds of millions of people around the world was very moving.”

Trump’s Republican Opponents Now Show Full Unity and Support

In a remarkable show of solidarity, Hern noted that even former opponents, such as “Nikki Haley, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and Ron DeSantis showed full unity and full support” for the Trump-Vance ticket. Once a vocal critic of Trump, Vance’s nomination as vice president is a testament that all Americans’ views on the former president can change.

Hern argued this is in stark contrast to “[T]he Democratic Party [which] is in complete disarray, while the Republican Party is firmly united behind President Trump and the policies from his first term.” (READ MORE: Dear Academia: Biden Didn’t Save Us From ‘Trumpian Chaos’)

When asked about a potential Trump-Harris matchup, Hern argued Trump is campaigning against the failures of the Biden-Harris policies.

“Kamala brings the same policies and most independents and sensible Democrats know the policies are not good for them.”

Other Republicans have also criticized Harris for her policies. For example, in a recent ad, Pennsylvania Senate candidate Dave McCormick claimed Harris is “the most liberal nominee in U.S. history.”

Hern is confident because:

“She was responsible for the border and the border is the worst it has ever been in the history of our country…And border security is the number one issue in every state… Any independent wondering what a Kamala Harris presidency would look like should recognize [her and Joe Biden] have been in lockstep with one another since 2021.”

Hern also claimed the resignation of Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle is indicative of broader issues within the Democratic Party. “Biden never fires anyone for incompetence… It took a bipartisan effort in the House doing oversight on the administration to get [Cheatle] to step down.” (READ MORE: The Secret Service Isn’t What Hollywood Promised Us It Was)

Reflecting on the broader implications of Biden’s remaining term, Hern suggested that “the Cabinet and the vice president should invoke the 25th Amendment. We have a national security issue. Someone is running the government and it is clearly not Joe Biden.”

For years, Trump was villainized by many Democrats and Republicans for his divisiveness. Now in a shocking turnaround, his courage and leadership are the most stabilizing force in American politics. This unexpected shift sets the stage for the 2024 election, with Republicans confident and ready, while Democrats scramble to find their footing.
