Duncan's Dairy Bar added to historic business list

A local business has joined the growing list of historic New York businesses.

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A local business has joined the growing list of historic New York businesses. Duncan's Dairy Bar was added to the state's preservation registry on Friday.

Duncan's Dairy Bar opened as an ice cream parlor in 1939 but has expanded to a full-service diner. The current owner said the restaurant is rooted in family tradition.

"Everything is made from scratch, homemade, same recipes since the 40s and 50s when my grandma owned the bakery, up until the 60s, and it's been the same recipes as that all the baked goods," owner John Squadrito said.

To be considered for the registry, businesses must be at least 50 years old and have contributed to their community's history.
