The 2024 summer transfer window is well underway, and clubs across Europe are working hard to improve their squads for the upcoming season.

Manchester United have been responsible for two of the most significant Premier League transfers as they strive to force their way into title contention.

Their move for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee took a while to complete, but he is an exciting addition to the club’s attacking ranks.

The Red Devils have also splashed the cash to sign centre-back Leny Yoro from Lille, and big things are expected of the teenage prodigy.

Yoro favoured a move to Real Madrid, but United pulled out all the stops to ensure the teenager ended up at Old Trafford.

Aston Villa have also been active in the summer transfer market ahead of their participation in the 2024/25 Champions League.

Midfielder Douglas Luiz has left Villa to join Juventus and has been replaced by Amadou Onana, who signed for the club following an impressive spell with Everton.

The Midlands outfit have signed several other players including Ross Barkley, whose move from Luton Town has gone under the radar a little.

West Ham United signalled their intent earlier this month by agreeing a £40 million deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers for Max Kilman.

The centre-back is undoubtedly one of the most eye-catching summer transfers up to this point, having established himself as a key player for Wolves.

Tottenham Hotspur’s £30m outlay on Archie Gray could ultimately prove great value, with the teenager rated as one of the best prospects in English football.

Gray showcased his versatility with Leeds United in the Championship and should flourish under the tutelage of manager Ange Postecoglou.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s move from Leicester City to Chelsea and Elliot Anderson’s switch from Newcastle United to Nottingham Forest are among a plethora of other transfers completed to date.

The Premier League has not been immune to big-money raids from elsewhere, with Bayern Munich leading the charge to sign top-class players.

Midfielder Joao Palhinha moved to the Bundesliga giants from Fulham, while winger Michael Olise has left Crystal Palace to join him in Germany.

There have been several major transfers between European clubs, but none can match Kylian Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid.

Signing one of the world’s most prolific forwards on a free transfer is excellent business, although the former Paris Saint-Germain star will command a massive salary.

With more than one month remaining before the transfer window closes, there is still plenty of time for clubs across Europe to get deals over the line.

Potential moves worth monitoring include Manchester United’s bid to sign Manuel Ugarte and Jarrd Branthwaite from PSG and Everton respectively.

Brentford striker Ivan Toney has been strongly linked with a move elsewhere, with Tottenham his most likely destination.

Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion has been touted as a possible target for Chelsea, but the La Liga club’s demands have proved problematic.

Omorodion is currently with the Spain squad at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which further complicates matters for the Premier League club.
