BBC Breakfast in huge schedule shake-up as Naga Munchetty’s programme goes off-air two hours early
BBC Breakfast was pulled off air two hours early in a huge schedule shake-up on Saturday.
Show anchor Naga Munchetty, 49, bid farewell to BBC One viewers at 8am, as she sat on the programme’s iconic red sofa alongside co-host Charlie Stayt, 62.
The duo ordinarily front Saturday’s BBC Breakfast instalment until 10am, when Matt Tebbutt takes over with his Saturday Kitchen foodie extravaganza.
Yet in a major programming change viewers missed out on two hours of news, sport and topical entertainment.
Charlie said: “Lots to look forward to of course, the Olympics are officially under way.”
Naga continued: “Hence we will be leaving you now.
“But of course Breakfast will be back tomorrow from 6am.
“Thanks for watching – enjoy your weekend.”
Charlie then added: “Bye bye,” before the episode’s iconic theme tune played out.
Yet many fans were less than impressed.
One took to X to rage: “You’ve cut #bbcbreakfast short!
“Can’t the Olympics wait till 9? Or put it on News24?”
A second added: “Olympics at 8 in the morning dear lord.”
A third then put: “bbcbreakfast finishing at 8.00am and proper news being shown on the BBC’s dedicated news channel.”

She is named among the top 10 highest earning BBC stars of the past year after taking home a £345,000 – £349,999 salary.
