What We’re Tracking

  • Seasonable temperatures this weekend
  • Limited rain chances
  • Really heating up next week

Temperatures are in the upper 60s and lower 70s with mostly clear skies this morning. An area of high pressure from the west will start to shift over head, and that will crank our temperatures up later into the weekend.

Highs for the afternoon will be in the upper 80s and lower 90s. This is our coolest day for a while. Sunday will be slightly warmer in the middle 90s. There is a slight chance we see a few isolated showers or storms over the weekend, mainly during the evening hours. We may even hold on to that chance heading into the upcoming week.

The upper level jet stream continues to carry wildfire smoke from the Pacific Northwest and Canada into northeast Kansas. Although not as prominent as it has been the last couple of days, we still have a 'hazy' look outside and a red tint to our sunrises/sunsets.

Heading into Monday, the heat begins to really wind up, reaching into triple digits for many days in a row. Overnight lows won't provide much relief either as we struggle to 'cool' down below 80°. Make sure to take it easy next week, drink plenty of water, and find ways to stay cool!
