PARIS (WCMH) -- The Paris Olympics are in full gear Saturday for the first day of competition.

Day 1 brings us 24 sports with a total of 44 medals up for grabs. Swimming has four finals scheduled, including the 4x100m freestyle relays. The men's gymnasts will compete in the qualification portion to determine who competes for which medal events.

Other notable events include the first diving and skateboarding finals, the men's rugby final, the start of beach volleyball and tennis and multiple U.S. teams beginning their tournaments.
