As the temperatures are finally rising and Brits get soak up much-needed sun, a number of us are wondering about the same thing – how to avoid razor bumps and ingrown hairs?

Luckily, one professional waxer has come to rescue just in time, sharing her top tips and tricks for a super smooth bikini line.

According to the whizz, @thebrazilianwaxco, who’s been in the business for a whopping decade, there are several things to remember when grabbing your razor.

Prep is key

First and foremost, it’s all about prep, the Halifax-based guru, Your Hairy Fairy Godmother, emphasised.

The key to no bumps, lumps, irritation and redness is exfoliation – so, get rid of the dry skin using your favourite scrub or other methods.

Stop shaving every day

Although a number of us shave on a daily basis – or at least a few times a week – the guru advised to best keep it to a minimum.

”My honest advice would be to let the hairs grow out quite long and then shave them,” she explained to her followers on TikTok.

”Get yourself a routine of shaving maybe once a week instead of this everyday malarkey.”

The blonde beauty, who’s won more than 75k fans on her page, said that when skin is exposed to shaving every day, it will get irritated and ”angry”.

Replace your razors

The high street is full of different razors all promising the ultimate bikini line – but how to know which one to choose?

According to the expert, it’s best to opt for those with just two blades – the more blades there are, the higher the chance of a painful skin irritation, she warned in the video.

”Get yourself a men’s plain, two-blade razor.”

One direction

When doing the first shave, the whizz urged to stop going upwards and instead, pull the razor in a downwards motion.

Once done, ”go side to side and then you can go up to get any last remaining hairs”.

This simple change will ensure your skin is ”much smoother” – and you will also experience less irritation causing discomfort.

Avoid blunt blades

When is the last time you replaced your razor? If it’s been a hot minute, you may want to ditch the old razor and replace it with a new one.

Ideally, she noted, beauty lovers should switch up their razors ”every other shave” and stop using them ”for months” at a time.

”The razor blades are gonna harbour bacteria, which is gonna cause redness, soreness, irritation – all of that”, she warned, adding you should also store this essential outside the shower.
