Michael C. Hall will be back to Young Sheldon the Dexter prequel

Presumably realizing that there's no escape, at this point, from the basic accusation that it's trying to apply the Young Sheldon formula to TV's favorite serial killer, a new teaser for upcoming prequel show Dexter: Original Sin has now confirmed that original star Michael C. Hall will be back for the show, playing "the inner voice of Dexter Morgan," whose outer voice (and body, and eyes, and stuff) will now be played by Patrick Gibson. The trailer deploys a new version of Dexter's iconic "morning routine" title sequence, albeit one that suggests this'll be more of an ensemble show, working Christian Slater's Harry and Molly Brown's Deb into all those very loud close-ups of flesh being cut, plastic being torn, and blood being dripped. The trailer ends with Hall's voice saying "Hello, Dexter Morgan" to his past self, suggesting that we'll get plenty of Jim Parsons-style Wonder Year-ing about the character's various antics as he finds his way from graduation to a job analyzing crime scenes (that he's only sometimes directly responsible for causing).Somewhat amazingly—as revealed at the franchise's panel at Comic-Con today—Original Sin isn't the only Dexter project Hall has on his plate: The actor will also be back for a second season of revival series New Blood. Which is now titled Resurrection, apparently, possibly to explain how Michael C. Hall can be co-starring in that particular series after the events of its last season finale. Anyway, it's 2024, and there are now two Dexter TV shows in active production in the world. Your guess is as good as ours. Both shows air on Paramount+.
