Queen’s Park have reached agreement with Inverness Caledonian Thistle for the permanent transfer of Australian born defender Nikola Ujdur to The Spiders for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old who holds a Croation passport, was born in Canberra and he has been well-travelled in his footballing career that started in the youth team of Bosnian side, NK GOŠK Gabela before he returned to the country of his birth in 2019 where he played for Canberra United, Northbridge, Sydney Olympic and Rockdale Ilinden.

Last September Nikola headed to the Highlands on a two-year contract, and he featured in 19 games and scored one goal which no-one at Queen’s Park needs reminded of!

Callum Davidson is pleased to add to his pool as he said: “It has taken a bit of time to get all the paperwork signed however I am delighted that Nikola is here. When we knew that Alex Bannon was heading to Burton Albion, we made signing Nikola a priority as, like Alex, he is a very good ball playing defender.

“He has experience of playing in the Championship and that is important as well. He is a fit lad, but he had been training on his own before joining us and is short of game time at the moment. It will therefore be a case of getting the balance right between getting him up to the right level fitness and getting him on the pitch.”

Nikola said: “I have been in and around things for a couple of days now and I am delighted to be joining a good squad of players. The set-up at Lochinch is impressive and I cannot wait to get going.

“I am looking forward to getting established in the team as soon as possible.”

Queen’s Park’s Director of Football, Darren O’Donnell added: “We targeted Nikola a good while ago and it has been a lengthy process due to having to secure a visa for him. He is here now on a two year contract and is really keen to get his time with us up and running.

“Nikola is going to help our defence as has a lot of good attributes and is also versatile. He has a good level of experience of different styles of football that he will share with our young players and that is another great reason to bring him in.”

Sponsorship of Nikola’s Home and Away kit is available for this season by contacting our Commercial Team on email kieran@queensparkfc.co.uk or calling 0141 632 1275.
