Ever since The Mirror first reported that a Premier League club was circling the young winger, it was heavily suggested that Spurs would be the club to snap up Min-hyuk Yang.

Now, we have the Fabrizio Romano ‘Here we go’ treatment, so it looks like the official announcement will not be far away. But, it seems we will have to wait until January to see him actually arrive in North London.

So, who is he, and why have Spurs signed him? Time to learn about Min-hyuk Yang.

Min-hyuk Yang career stats

The current season has been a real breakthrough for Yang, who has taken the Korean league by storm with eight goals and four assists in 24 appearances.

He’s broken a few records and achieved some big milestones, too. Yang is the first high school professional player in K League 1 history after signing a contract on June 17, 2024.

Yang is also the youngest debutant and goalscorer in Gangwon’s history. In fact, he’s the youngest-ever goalscorer in K League history.

On top of that, he’s the youngest player in K League history to score two goals in two consecutive matches, and is the youngest player to be awarded the K League Young Player of the Month.

Min-hyuk Yang strengths and weaknesses

The young winger has dazzling skills, great agility, and a real eye for creativity. He may be young, but Min-hyuk Yang has more than held his own at senior level so far.

He’s blessed with impeccable ball control and shows a really high footballing IQ, allowing him to find space, beat his man, and provide a killer pass or finish.

Of course, Yang is only young, and will still need time to develop physically, especially if he wants to play in the Premier League. But, his athleticism and speed give him a real advantage.

He’s not particularly good in the air, but then again, is any winger? Regardless, it’s hard to judge a player’s weaknesses at such a young age — only time will tell how he progresses.

What are people saying about him?

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham’s scouts are really excited about Min-hyuk Yang, and view him as a player with “important potential”, and someone who offers “huge talent for the future.”

Fighting Stripes Football tweeted to say that it is “scary what he could become” but insisted we should not overhype a young player too much.

South Korean football expert Sungmo Lee told Football London: “Yang Min-hyuk is the best young player in the K League right now, and most significantly, he’s still a high school student.”

South Korean journalist Jason Lee told The Spurs News: “He’s an Ange Postecoglou winger. The perfect young player that Postecoglou can mould for his system. Young, fearless, and eager to take on his man.”

What do The Spurs Web think?

It looks like we’ve bagged ourselves another incredibly exciting young player here, and I can’t wait to see Min-hyuk Yang join up with this squad.

He’s got so much raw ability, so just imagine what he will be able to achieve once he’s working with Ange, Sonny, and the rest of the Spurs setup. The future is bright!
