Scots comedian forced to axe gigs after undergoing emergency heart procedure

GLASGOW comic Susie McCabe has been forced to axe a run of gigs after being rushed to hospital.

The 44-year-old said she called an ambulance on Friday before undergoing an emergency heart procedure.

Susie was set to perform at a Glasgow venue this weekend but the gig has since been cancelled

After playing Manchester on Wednesday, the Glasgwegian comic, was set to perform in Bristol on Friday but before taking to the stage, Susie was rushed to the city‘s Royal Infirmary.

On the mend, the award-winning comedian took to social media last night to thank her fans for their support and praise the NHS for its “incredible level of care”.

She wrote: “Thanks everyone for your kind and supportive messages , it really means a lot.

“Thanks to all the staff at Bristol Royal Infirmary , incredible level of care .

“I called an ambulance at 9:45 and had been treated and in a Cardiology ICU by 11:45

“OUR NHS IS THE GREATEST THING WE HAVE AND ITS OURS AND WE PAY FOR IT.”

Susie was set to perform at Glasgow’s Jester’s Comedy Nights this Sunday but the gig has since been cancelled.

In her Facebook post, she continued: “The standard of treatment I have received has been incredible .

“Imagine if I had died in Bristol????”

The comic, who has had the seal of approval from comedy legend Sir Billy Connolly, even went on to poke fun at her poor lifestyle choices, saying: “Fairwell Fags , poppers and red bull ….. we were good pals but you’re a bad influence on me ….

“Hello Hummus , Yoghurt and sadness !”.

Fans rushed to the comments to wish her a speedy recovery.

One wrote: “So sorry to hear what happened to you, but the main thing is you’re here to tell the story. In the future, we’ll all have a laugh about it when you mention it onstage while bringing the house down at some venue”.

A second said: “Wishing you a speedy recovery Susie! Take care pal”.

A third added: “If you’re still in Bristol by Monday evening when I’m free of work for a few days, I’m close enough to bring grapes, Irn Bru, etc.”

Susie was set to perform her show The Merchant of Menace on the Lodge Stage at the Edinburgh Fringe on August 10, but it is not yet known whether the event will go ahead.
