An official X (formerly Twitter) account for the presidential campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris this week attacked American Principles Project (APP) President Terry Schilling, a pro-life Catholic leader.

In its swipe at Schilling, the “Kamala HQ” account leaned into a common Democratic Party talking point about The Heritage Foundation’s conservative policy blueprint Project 2025.

The account posted a screenshot of a post from Schilling that positively highlighted his recent meeting with former President Donald Trump.

Kamala HQ wrote that Trump had met with a “Project 2025 board member who wants to allow book bans” and pointed out that Schilling had told Trump, “Mr. President, you’ve had our backs.”

The account describes itself as “the official rapid response page of Vice President Harris’ presidential campaign.”

By “book bans,” Kamala HQ was likely invoking another heavily scrutinized Democratic talking point used to describe the widespread parent-led movement to remove sexually explicit and pornographic books from school libraries.

Schilling, a father of seven, has extensively worked to spread awareness of this issue.

In the post Kamala HQ highlighted, Schilling wrote: “I had the opportunity to show President Trump how important family issues are to voters. He is more aware of what Dems are doing to our kids than most politicians I’ve met.”

The Catholic leader’s post also included a photograph of his meeting with Trump.

Schilling took to X to respond to Kamala HQ’s attack by highlighting that APP is spending $18 million in a campaign focused on exposing Harris’ anti-parent positions.

“Hey [Harris],” Schilling wrote. “Big Family is coming for you!”

In the past several months, Democrats have frequently referred to the existence of Project 2025 in order to baselessly accuse Trump of wanting to be a so-called “dictator.”

However, leftist critics of the policy initiative often use vague language and almost never point to any of Project 2025’s specific planks to make their argument.

Given this, conservatives have referred to the left’s attacks as nothing more than partisan fearmongering.

Project 2025’s website states that it is a proposed “Presidential Transition Project” and describes its goal as follows:

It is not enough for conservatives to win elections. If we are going to rescue the country from the grip of the radical Left, we need both a governing agenda and the right people in place, ready to carry this agenda out on Day One of the next conservative Administration.

Per CatholicVote’s February report on the project:

The Project has a “180-Day Playbook” that details specific recommendations of what must be done within the first half-year of Trump’s administration “to bring quick relief to Americans suffering from the Left’s devastating policies.”

Trump himself has distanced himself from Project 2025 on multiple occasions, stating he had “nothing to do with it.”

“The Radical Left Democrats are having a field day, however, trying to hook me into whatever policies are stated or said. It is pure disinformation on their part,” Trump wrote earlier this month.
