The Counter-Terrorism Department of Pakistan has announced the arrest of 38 terrorists in various cities across Punjab this month. Among those arrested are a member of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and a commander of ISIS.

According to the department’s spokesperson, these arrests were made during operations conducted in Lahore, Rahim Yar Khan, Narowal, Rawalpindi, and Multan. The authorities also seized explosives, hand grenades, weapons, mobile phones, and cash from the detainees.

The seized materials are believed to be part of the terrorists’ plans to target law enforcement agencies and other key installations. To maintain security and counter extremist threats, the Counter-Terrorism Department reported conducting 448 operations across Punjab in July.

In response to the heightened threat of terrorism, the Punjab Home Department has prohibited all gatherings, sit-ins, and protests until Sunday.

Recent attacks in Pakistan have seen a surge in militant activity, targeting Pakistani officers, foreign citizens, and civilians.

These attacks are alleged to have connections with support from the Taliban, who are reportedly backing these militant groups. However, the Taliban have denied these allegations, asserting their commitment to preventing any individuals or groups from using Afghanistan’s soil to launch attacks against neighboring countries.

The escalating violence has intensified tensions in the region, prompting further scrutiny and responses from both Pakistani authorities and the Taliban.

The Pakistani government has called for increased vigilance and cooperation to address the rising security challenges in the region.
