There could be a case of one out, one in for Tottenham in the striker department this summer, with Richarlison heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia. If so, Spurs could use any money raised to make a big offer for a Premier League striker.

Spurs could pay £50m for Ivan Toney

That’s the opinion of talkSPORT pundit, Alex Crook, who suggested Spurs will offload Richarlison and then look to spend £50m on Ivan Toney to fill their needs for a new number nine.

He said: “I think Tottenham are looking for a number nine. Richarlison is happy to move on now, probably to Saudi Arabia. If that does happen I would expect Tottenham’s interest in Toney to accelerate.

“Two interesting things here. Brentford’s asking price seems to be coming down by the week. In January they seemed to be setting the fee at £80m, then it went down to £70m, £60m. I think they would probably take £50m now.

“I was told during my time in Germany that Saudi Arabia was a possible destination for Toney.

“I’m not sure it would be top of his list, but the reason his price is coming down is because Toney has made it clear that at this moment in time, he won’t sign a new contract at Brentford, which means they do run the risk that he goes as a free agent next summer.”

All signs point to £60m Richarlison price tag

According to various reports over recent weeks, most notably The Times, Tottenham are simply looking to recoup the £60m they paid for Richarlison two years ago.

Meanwhile, interest in Toney has waned recently, and it is thought only Spurs and West Ham are still in the race to sign the Brentford man (The Sun).

Spurs Web Opinion

Do I think Toney should be the one we sign this summer? No. Do I think we should be letting Richarlison go? No. But, the idea of gaining £10m and getting a player as prolific as Toney does sound like good business.
