Ivan Toney appears no closer to sealing his dream transfer away from Brentford this summer and staying for another season before leaving on a free transfer is not being ruled out (BBC).

West Ham and Spurs both want Toney

GiveMeSport report that Tottenham and West Ham are now the only two clubs left in the race for Ivan Toney this summer, whose price tag has dropped down to just £50m.

TalkSPORT agree that the Ivan Toney transfer saga is now a two-horse race, but the England international is reportedly hoping that Spurs come calling for him.

That being said, a more recent update from GiveMeSport suggests Man United could yet decide to re-join the fight to sign Toney over the coming weeks.

Will Ivan Toney get his big move?

Brentford’s new club-record signing Igor Thiago has suffered a knee issue which could keep him out for the first month of the new Premier League season (The Athletic).

If Thiago – who was supposed to be the Bees’ Toney replacement – is ruled out for a long period of time, it is claimed that Brentford may even look at keeping Toney for the time being (The Sun).

The BBC now report that, although Toney remains keen on an exit, Brentford are yet to receive a single bid for the striker and there are ‘no obvious suitors coming forward’.

People at Brentford are said to be accepting that Toney will not sign a new contract, but they are confident he will give his all if he ends up staying for the 2024/25 season and leaving on a free next summer.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I would be very surprised if Ivan Toney was still a Brentford player come the start of the season.

His price tag will eventually drop down to around £40m, which is when Tottenham will probably make their move for the centre-forward.
