Driver in stolen vehicle hits, injures Alameda County sheriff’s deputy

ALAMEDA COUNTY – A driver in a stolen vehicle hit and seriously injured an Alameda County sheriff’s deputy Wednesday in the unincorporated community of Ashland, authorities said.

The incident happened around 8 a.m., when the Alameda County Regional Auto Theft Task Force and deputies assigned to the Eden Township Substation tried to apprehend two suspects driving stolen vehicles, according to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.

“Our deputy sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release Friday. “We are thankful the deputy survived and is receiving the medical treatment needed to recover from this traumatic incident.”

Two suspects were arrested in connection with the incident, according to the sheriff’s office.
