Minor League Recap for Friday, July 26th, 2024

Captains 5, Redbirds 3

George Valera is on a bit of a hot streak and had two hits. Sadly, Andrew Walters gave up three runs putting the brakes on my “get him to Cleveland NOW” train. Joey Cantillo was scratched from this start, and Kyle Manzardo was absent from the lineup, leading to trade/call-up speculation for both.

Rubber Ducks 7, BaySox 0

Connor Kokx, Kody Huff and Joe Lampe each had two hits, and C.J. Kayfus had a double and four RBI to back shutout performances for rehabbing Matthew Boyd (5 innings, 2 hits, 1 walk, and 3 K’s) and Parker Messick (4 innings, no hits, no walks and 4 K’s). Excitingly, Chase DeLauter returns to Akron today!

Captains 1, Loons 0

Travis Bazzana struck out twice after working full counts but grounded a sharp RBI groundout to plate the games only run in his debut. Cooper Ingle had a double and a walk and Dylan DeLucia had a strong High-A debut with 3.1 scoreless (no hits, 4 walks and 4 strikeouts).

Fireflies 4, Lynchburg 3

Jaison Chourio had another two hits and a walk, but the bullpen faltered after Kyle Scott’s strong four innings scoreless (3 hits, 1 walk and 6 K’s).

DSL Cle Mendoza 7, DSL Brewers 6

DSL Cle Goryl 7, DSL Royals Fortuna 1
