'Captain America: Brave New World' Comic-Con Revelations - MCU Movie Addresses Huge Plot Hole, Identity of Major Villain Confirmed

We learned some huge things about Marvel‘s latest Captain America movie during a MCU Comic-Con panel on Saturday night (July 27).

Captain America: Brave New World is the first movie to feature Anthony Mackie as Captain America after he took over Chris Evans‘ gig in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in 2021.

During a panel at the San Diego convention, some new footage from the movie was revealed. It addressed some plot points, including the identity of one of the project’s key villains (played by Giancarlo Esposito) and how Marvel is addressing a plot hole that’s been growing for three years.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige also compared the tone of the movie to a fan-favorite within the MCU!

Kevin compared the movie’s tone to Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which featured a smaller cast and is viewed as one of the franchise’s best solo movies.

According to Variety, we learned that Giancarlo will introduce the villain Sidewinder, the King of the Serpent Society to the film franchise.

The movie will also address the plot hole introduced by Eternals back in 2021 in a clever way. If you forgot, the movie ended with the group of heroes stopping the Celestial Tiamut from emerging from the Earth and destroying all of humanity. They did so by turning the supersized creature into stone. However, he has largely gone unacknowledged since the movie was released.

Not anymore: The remains of Tiamut are now called Celestial Island Summit. The island is now the home of the impenetrable metal adamantium. Fans will remember that the mutant Wolverine, who joined the MCU in Deadpool & Wolverine, has adamantium claws.

The iconic metal is now viewed as “the most valuable element on the planet.”

Marvel’s new footage also offered a glimpse at Harrison Ford as Red Hulk!

The trailer that debuted during Comic-Con is not yet available online. We’ll update you once it premieres.

Anthony was joined onstage during the event by costars Giancarlo and Danny Ramirez. We’ve got pics of them in the gallery!

Captain America: Brave New World hits theaters on February 14, 2025. Check out the first teaser trailer!
