Two Microsoft Xbox services close tomorrow – what it means for purchases & online multiplayer titles

XBOX fans have been warned that two services will disappear forever from Monday.

Owner Microsoft first announced the move in May, resulting in hundreds of games no longer being available to buy on one platform.

The move affects Xbox 360 consoles users who use the Xbox 360 Store and the Xbox 360 Marketplace.

So anyone with an Xbox One or Xbox Series S/X need not worry, your digital stores will remain unchanged.

Fortunately, it doesn’t mean Xbox 360 players will lose their existing purchases either.

And you don’t need to suddenly rush to download them all before the cut off.

You simply can’t make any new purchases.

This includes everything – games, trials, add-ons, avatar items, apps, gamerpics, game trailers, and videos.

“This will not impact how the community plays currently owned games on Xbox 360 or via backward compatibility,” Microsoft said.

“Players will be able to continue to download and play games they already own on Xbox 360, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X|S consoles via backward compatibility.”

Online multiplayer isn’t shutting down either.

Gamers can still to play multiplayer as usual on previously downloaded games and games owned on disc – but remember, availability of online services depends on support by publishers, not Microsoft.

How to download previous purchased content on Xbox 360

To download your previous purchases onto any Xbox 360 machine simply do the following:

• Account
• Download History

Microsoft does warn: “To play your games while offline, you must first make sure that the licenses are transferred to your console.”
