Paris: Two-time Olympics medallist PV Sindhu started her Paris Olympics 2024 campaign on a rousing note as she breezed past Maldives’ FN Abdul Razzaq in just 29 minutes to win 21-9, 21-6 in her first women’s singles Group M encounter on Sunday. Seeded 10th in the competition, Sindhu was no match for her opponent as the Indian dominated the whole game and never gave Abdul Razzaq a chance for a comeback.

With Sindhu’s win, the Indian shuttlers have maintained their 100- per cent win record at the Paris Olympics 2024 so far. On Saturday, Lakshya Sen won in men’s singles while the men’s doubles pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy also notched up their first win.

Sindhu will next face Estonia’s Kristin Kubba, the date of which is yet to be known. A win against Kubba will ensure Sindhu’s place in Round of 16 as the top player from each group advance to the knockouts. If all goes well, Sindhu will face He Bingjao of China in the Round of 16.
