A slew of famous faces have graced Walford over the years but before their time on the BBC show, they have made unwitting and unexpected cameo’s as their real-life selves.

One Twitter user shared a side-by-side collection of their impressive spots as they insisted: “I love picking up on stuff like this in old eps.”

First up was actress and Loose Women star Denise Welch who appeared in Walford in 2016 as Alison Slater, the secret stepmother of Stacey.

Denise dyed her famous blonds locks dark for the role in a bid to heavily alter her appearance from her days in Coronation Street as Natalie Barnes.

However, years before, Denise’s real-life marriage woes and wedding planning antics were splashed across a magazine for sale in the Minute Mart.

As Sharon popped in to the shop to pick up some bits, Denise was front and centre of the glossy woman’s weekly before taking on her role as Alison.

Elsewhere, Chantelle Atkins actress Jessica Plummer was referenced within the EastEnders universe before playing the tragically murdered Walford icon.

Jessica first joined the programme in March 2019 but her character Chantelle was killed off in harrowing scenes in September 2020 when she was killed off by Gray Atkins in a disturbing domestic abuse storyline.

But it wasn’t appearing in Walford that made Jess a star and if the Albert Square universe is anything to go by, the other residents knew this too!

Jessica found fame in girl group Neon Jungle who had a slew of chart hits including Braveheart and Welcome to the Jungle.

Neon Jungle even chose to advertise the release of their top ten hit across posters and flyers littered around the Square.

Another star, Richard Blackwood, managed to find himself popping up a poster advertising a tour of top stand-up comedians across the country whilst appearing in the programme as show hunk Vincent Hubbard.

Vincent was on the show for a little over three years whilst he was married to Kim Fox.

Known for his notorious streak, he found himself embattled with various crimes towards his later years on the show.

His dealings with hardmen Phil Mitchell and Aidan Maguire ultimately led him to an early grave.

Whilst his fate was initially left on a cliffhanger, Phil later confirmed that he had in fact been killed.

Vincent was also remembered for his relationship with his iconic mother Claudette and offering to father his mother’s foster daughter’s baby.
