Run don’t walk to Aldi for the Whispering Angel dupe – it’s ‘better’ than the £24 bottle and a fraction of the price
SCROLL through Instagram and you’ll be hard pressed not to find smug influencers quaffing the instantly recognisable rosé, Whispering Angel.
Loved by celebs like Lady Gaga and Adele, the Provence rosé has a cult following thanks to its chic packaging and swiggable taste.
Whispering Angel has become the drink of choice for celebs and influencers alike[/caption] But Aldi shoppers and running to the supermarket to grab the dupe that is almost half the price[/caption] Wine experts have suggested that the wine could actually be better than the original[/caption]However, with an RRP of £24 a bottle, for us mere mortals it is a little out of our price range.
But fear not as Aldi shoppers are flocking to the wine aisle for the £12.49 dupe of the cult favourite.
Crafted east of Aix-en-Provence, Aldi’s Chassaux et Fils Saint Victoire Provence Rosé offers ripe berry characteristics with whispers of floral notes on the palette for a deliciously smooth, luscious and well-balanced rosé.
Wine expert, Lucy Hitchcock, AKA Partner in Wine, has taken to social media to boast about the wine, questioning whether it may be better than the original.
“Am I saying that the new Aldi wine is actually better than whispering angel… I’ll let you be the judge of that,” she said.
Made with the same four grapes, promising a high-quality drop at an unbeatable price point, shoppers could bag a saving of 48% when opting for Aldi’s vino over Whispering Angel Côtes de Provence – which retails for a whopping £24 a bottle.
But shoppers better be quick, as the tipple has already caught the eyes of rosé fans on social media since it landed in stores earlier this week:
One follower commented: “This looks lovely!”
While another said: “We need to try this .”
A third added: “Run don’t walk!”
Promising a high-quality wine at an unbeatable price point, shoppers are sure to save when opting for Aldi’s vino over other expensive brands in the market.
Whispering Angel is the flagship wine of Château d’Esclans, a vineyard north of Saint Tropez, France.
After exploding onto the market, it became a celebrity favourite – including among the Beckhams.
The hype is thanks to its gorgeous bottle, Instagrammable look and champagne-style branding.
Whispering Angel made rosé cool again, lots of sommeliers believe.
