Vladimir Putin warns the United States of Cold War-style missile crisis

Russian President Vladimir Putin cautioned the United States against deploying long-range missiles in Germany by 2026, warning that such actions could trigger a Cold War-style missile crisis. The U.S. plans to station SM-6, Tomahawk cruise missiles, and hypersonic weapons in Germany as a commitment to NATO defense. Speaking in St Petersburg, Putin indicated Russia would respond by deploying similar missiles within striking distance of the West. He compared the situation to the 1979 NATO Pershing II deployments, suggesting heightened tensions akin to the Cold War era.
