SETTLING on a baby name is no easy feat.

It seems that whatever you choose someone will have something to say about your moniker of choice.

And even if by some miracle you find a name that everyone is happy with, you have the risk that someone might come along and steal it for themselves.

This is exactly what happened to one Redditor who discovered her sister and ‘stolen’ her son’s name to use as her own.

Taking to a baby name shaming page on Reddit, the mum shared her outrage over her sister’s name choice.

In her post, she wrote: “My sister named her baby the same name as mine!

“I named my son Thomas Morgan last nans and she’s calling hers Morgan middle name Thomas!”

She went on to add that Morgan had been the sisters maiden name which is why it had been of significance to them both.

Fellow Redditors were quick to offer up their own opinions, with many divided over the subject.

One wrote: “You are now morally obligated to call her kid “knockoff Thomas Morgan” for the rest of their lives.”

Agreeing, another joked, “Insist on calling your child ‘Thomas Morgan the first and better one’ whenever she’s around to assert your dominance.”

“I knew first cousins with the same first and last name, same middle initial. It was weird,” said another.

However, many admitted that they failed to see the issue, with several cousins coming forward admitting they had shared a name.

One explained: “My cousin and I share a name (my first, her middle, she’s older than me), it’s our grandmother’s name. It’s literally never been a problem.”

A second agreed, adding: “Me and my sister both have daughters named after our gran. It’s a non-issue.”

Weighing in, another said: “My husband and his first cousin are both called James. It’s never actually caused much of a problem. This is fine.”
