National Chicken Wing Day deals for July 29

Here are some of the participating national chains offering specials on Monday.

(WJET/WFXP) — National Chicken Wing Day is Monday, July 29, and dozens of national chain restaurants are offering deals to celebrate. In case you've never heard of it, it first began in 1977, with a proclamation by then-mayor of Buffalo, New York (the believed birthplace of chicken wings), Stan Makowski.

Here are some of the participating national chains offering specials on Monday.

Buffalo Wild Wings

B-Dubs is offering 6 free wings, either boneless or traditional, with a $10 minimum order. The deal is valid for dine-in, online, and through the Buffalo Wild Wings app with promo code WINGDAY.

Applebee's

Buy one get one free on Monday, with either 10-piece boneless wings or 9-piece bone-in wings. The deal is only offered online. You can order on the Applebee's website or on the app using code WINGDAY24 at checkout. The deal is available for pick up or delivery.

Hooters

When you dine in on National Wing Day, when you buy 10 wings of any style you will get 10 wings free. The lower-priced item will be free. This deal is not valid with other discounts.

Popeyes

On Monday, when you order a six-piece boneless or bone-in wings with the Popeyes app or Online you can get a second order of six wings for just $1.

7-Eleven:

7-Eleven will be offering customers BOGO deals for their boneless and bone-in wings on National Chicken Wing Day. If you order a five-piece bone-in wings you will receive another five-piece for free. If you prefer boneless, If you buy an 8-piece boneless wings you can get another 8-piece order for free. This deal is valid at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway, and Stripes locations.

Finally, in case you decide to cook up some chicken wings at home, make sure to employ proper raw chicken handling to begin with. Just a few years back, researchers at Drexel University began the Don't Wash Your Chicken program, which hoped to dispel the belief that you need to wash raw chicken before cooking it.

“Chicken has already been washed,” the program says. “Today’s manufacturing cleans the chicken, so there is no filth, feathers, or anything else on it that needs to be washed off. Poultry may have a coating of water and protein: this gets cooked off, or you can remove it with a clean paper towel and then wash your hands.”
