William ‘didn’t want’ Meghan Markle to wear Diana’s jewellery to her wedding over ‘concerns about her match with Harry’

PRINCE William “didn’t want” Meghan Markle to wear Diana’s jewellery to her wedding over concerns about her match with Prince Harry, a bombshell new book claims.

Author Robert Jobson has claimed William “sought assurances” from the Queen that Meghan would not wear Diana’s jewels.

Princess Kate had worn Diana’s jewellery to her Westminster Abbey wedding with William in 2011.

But Jobson claims William was “concerned” after Meghan allegedly made Kate cry during a fitting for Princess Charlotte’s dress.

Meghan later contradicted this version of events – claiming it was Kate who made HER cry.

Veteran royal journalist Jobson makes the claim in his new book “Catherine, The Princess of Wales: The Biography”.

He writes: “By the time William was confirmed as best man, the relationship had worsened.

“Still concerned about the match, he’d sought assurances from the Queen that Harry’s bride would not be wearing any of Princess Diana’s jewellery, even though his own wife was allowed to wear it.”

Jobson’s book has been serialised in the Mail ahead of its publication on Wednesday.

He describes Harry and Meghan’s 2018 wedding at St George’s Chapel in Windsor as a “spectacular success” despite the bickering.

In the book, he writes: “The Royal Family were all smiles, though privately they were at daggers drawn.”

His biography of Kate comes as the mum-of-three continues her treatment for cancer.

Earlier this month Kate dazzled as she presented tennis ace Carlos Alcaraz with his trophy after the men’s final at Wimbledon.

In June, the princess was seen beaming as she stood side by side with King Charles on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

It was the first time Kate had attended a royal event since she and Charles were diagnosed with cancer.

Her appearance at Trooping the Colour came after she issued an update on her health battle.

In a statement, Kate said: “I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last months.

“It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times.

“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days.

“On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to
your body resting.

“But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.

“My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life.

“I spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home.

“I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family.

“I hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally know I am not out of the woods yet.”

Kate added: “I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty.

“Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.

“Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me.”
