Olympic fans in stitches at ‘lifeguard’s’ bold outfit choice as he’s brilliantly called into action at Paris 2024

FANS were left in stitches after seeing a lifeguard’s bold outfit choice after he was called into action at Paris 2024 on Sunday.

The competition was temporarily paused because an item was spotted at the bottom of the pool.

The hilarious moment happened between the preliminary heats in the 100m women’s breaststroke event.

And it was Team USA‘s Emma Webber’s swimming cap that happened to have fallen off her head.

To save the day one volunteer who was dressed in a bold pair of trunks went to rescue the item.

As who was described as a “middle-aged man” strutted to the edge of the pool fans inside the Paris La Defense Arena cheered and whistled.

The lifeguard was in and out of the pool in under 20 seconds before more cheers were aimed in his direction as he waved to the fans in the stands.

A clip of the moment went viral on X and the man was widely hailed as a “hero”.

One viewer also said: “Absolutely brilliant. He deserves a medal.”

Another then added: “Some guy in a Speedo just jumped into an olympic pool to retrieve a swimmers cap from the bottom of the pool. I want that job is 2028 @Olympics”.

While a third then put: “You love to see it lol! Love the shorts!”

A fourth then said: “The first time in history a lifeguard at the Olympics got something to do!”

Webber did not make it into the 100m breaststroke semi-final whereas teammate Lily King finished 5th in the heats.

South Africa’s Tatjana Smith heads into the next round first at 1:05.00 followed by China’s Tang Qianting and Ireland’s Mona McSharry.

Team GB‘s Angharad Evans secured a spot in the semi-final after finishing 12th with a time of 1:06.38.
