Inside George Clarke’s stunning 1960s style West London home the Channel 4 property star renovated himself
HE is known for creating a slew of Amazing Spaces for others but TV host George Clarke has a pretty impressive West London abode himself.
The star resides in an idyllic 1960s-style pile that he purchased in the affluent Notting Hill in 2015.
George renovated the luxury property all by himself thanks to his wealth of expertise and lives there alongside his wife Katie and his three children from a previous marriage, Emilio, George and Iona.
Whilst he purchased the property as an already pretty plush pad, the Channel 4 presenter wasted no time in gutting it entirely to make it his own with plenty of different quirks.
In one part of the swish house, George has a dedicated office space filled to the brim with a variety of books.
A slew of shelves line the entirely wooden room filled with more than enough reading material to keep George and his family going.
A major bookworm, George previously revealed: “Books. Reading is one of my escapes. My daughter the other day said, ‘Dad, you’ve got to get rid of some of your books’.
“You can’t see my coffee table anymore because it’s stacked, 10 books high, over the whole thing. If I carry on, soon I won’t be able to see the TV!”
His house also comes complete with a unique garden studio.
The outbuilding’s roof is topped with faux grass in order to fit in within its surroundings and features a glass roof window for the star to peer up to.
The workshop is decorated in yellow and green and offers a wowing pop of colour to the home.
Despite being renowned for his impeccable property know-how and stunning renovations and builds, George has opted to keep many parts of the house private from the public.
However, he has emphasised the importance of homely life as a “retreat” for himself away from his chaotic line of work.
He previously told House Beautiful: “Your home is the most important piece of architecture in your life, the extended member of the family.
“It affects how you socialise with your partner or kids and friends. It’s also your retreat and your personal space.
“I absolutely love my house. It’s a 1960s house in West London that I refurbished a number of years ago, so quite contemporary but, at the same time, very homely.”
Scattered among the property are a slew of luxury items including George’s beloved black Eames lounge chair and ottoman.
He confessed: “I bought it about 20 years ago. It’s in my living room and I never sit on it to watch TV. It’s my reading chair. I’d always dreamt of having an original.”
However, there are still two dream additions to his house that George is yet to achieve.
George revealed: “I’d love to have a wine cellar. It would have to be a proper, really cool, beautifully designed wine cellar. That would be awesome.
“I’d also love a steam room. You know when you go on holiday and you’ve got a traditional steam room?
“I’d love one of those. It would be my absolute dream one day to have a wine cellar and steam room.”
