Tottenham announce Yang Min-hyuk

Tottenham officially announced their third signing of the summer this afternoon, with Yang Min-hyuk joining from South Korean side Gangwon FC.

Yang will join Spurs in January 2025 when the current K-League season ends, and has signed a contract in North London until 2030.

The 18-year-old winger has made 25 appearances on the wing so far this season, contributing eight goals and four assists already.

Spurs pay record fee for Yang Min-hyuk

Gangwon FC themselves have now confirmed that Tottenham paid a record fee for a player moving straight from Korea to Europe, although the fee itself has not been revealed.

TransferMarkt list Yang’s current market value at around €1.2 million (£1 million), but we may have to wait to find out the exact fee Tottenham agreed to pay.

Gangwon FC also reveal that Spurs sweetened the deal by inviting the club’s U18 team, and five additional players recommended by CEO Kim Byung-ji, to take part in a winter training camp at Hotspur Way.

The Korean club reportedly received multiple offers for Yang this summer, but Gangwon FC ‘decided that Tottenham was the club that would be the best fit for Yang Min-hyuk’s growth.’

Spurs Web Opinion:

This sounds like a completely risk-free deal for Spurs. I reckon they probably paid a few million for the 18-year-old. If he develops into a fantastic player, great! If he doesn’t it’s not the end of the world.

Welcome to Tottenham, Yang Min-hyuk!
