Hazy skies end Sunday with rain on the horizon in early week

Air quality is forecast to remain in the good category west of the Cascades and hazy skies above Portland won't last long Sunday.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Air quality is forecast to remain in the good category west of the Cascades and hazy skies above Portland won't last long Sunday.

While Sunday's forecast high temperatures will be similar to Saturday's, in the low 80's, the one noticeable difference will be the increase in clouds and stronger onshore flow. And it's that onshore flow that will push the haze from distant wildfires to the east.

Sunday is our transition day to cloudier skies as we await the next front to arrive Monday morning. Sunday will first start out cloudy then break up early afternoon before becoming mostly cloudy for the evening.

Rain may begin falling Monday morning across western Washington and the north end of the Willamette Valley. Rain is forecast to move out of this area by Tuesday afternoon.
