Scattered storms today, hotter and drier weather pattern this week

Another day of storm activity today, although storm coverage will continue to be less than it has been. Overall, I'll put storm coverage at around 40% for today and these storms will develop mainly during the afternoon hours. Highs will reach the lower 90s as we are expected to see a little more sunshine.

The trough of low pressure, which was responsible for giving us the widespread storms each day, is finally moving off the north as it gets absorbed by an upcoming trough. In its wake, high pressure will build across the region throughout the week ahead. High pressure leads to drier weather and hotter temperatures each day. Rain chances will be isolated (10-20%) each afternoon, mainly due to Seabreeze storms each afternoon. More importantly, high temperatures will reach the mid-90s each afternoon this week with heat index values soaring past 105 degrees.

TROPICS

We're continuing to monitor a tropical wave out in the central Atlantic. It currently has a 'moderate' chance of development as it moves westward towards the Caribbean islands. We'll continue to monitor the progress of this system.
