Man killed at car wash before attending funeral nets zero leads seven years later

REYNOLDSBRG, Ohio (WCMH) –  Nearly seven years after a man was killed on his way to an out-of-state funeral, investigators are still searching for leads to solve the case.

James Stennies was found shot dead in the early hours of April 22, 20217, in the parking lot of a Miracle Car Wash in the 600 block of Lancaster Avenue in Reynoldsburg. Police said Stennies, 57, had been shot several times while washing his blue 2001 Volvo in preparing for a trip to Indiana to attend a funeral for a relative.

Stennies was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:24 a.m. after officers arrived to reports of a shooting. But the circumstances of the shooting to this day remain unclear and no suspect information has been released.

The investigation did note that Stennies’ belongings, namely his wallet, keys and phone were not taken and inside his vehicle. Other evidence was collected as well, police said.
