I was a 00s child star in a classic advert – but my life is completely different now
THE child star who became known as ‘the advert kid’ now lives a very different life 19 years after he found fame.
Kian Rogers was just five when he became the poster boy for Persil’s ‘Dirt is Good’ campaign.
Wearing a pair of blue and white striped pyjamas he served his on-screen parents breakfast.
Spilling a carton of milk over the kitchen counter and wiping his hands on his clothes after cracking eggs, Kian proudly carried a tray of food.
As well as Persil in 2005, he teamed up with other huge brands like Lloyd’s Bank and Direct Line.
Looking back at his short-lived fame, Kian said that he was given VIP treatment, which included his own trailer.
He was close to Hollywood fame at one point, auditioning for TV shows and blockbusters including The Other Boleyn Girl.
He said his hair colour was the only reason he didn’t land the role alongside Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman.
Kian found that as he got older he wasn’t getting picked for the ‘cute’ roles and was up against teenagers who’d gone to stage school.
The actor said that his parents wanted him to have a ‘normal’ education and life, so instead he went on to study cybersecurity at University.
Despite not making the silver screen, he enjoyed the perks of fame when he was younger.
Now 24, Kian told The Mirror: “I was known as ‘the advert kid’ when I was younger,”
“Even the kids from secondary school would come up to me and ask for autographs and stuff. It was a really popular advert that Persil one, it was in cinemas, TV, billboards.”
He said he once got recognised in London during a family day out, which he said was “good, but weird”.
Kian discovered that as well as acting, he had a passion for computers and gaming.
He admitted that his hobby got him in trouble after he hacked into the school’s computers.
He now works as a ‘Penetration Tester’, which is also known as an ethical hacker, for a UK-based security consultancy.
The job involves hacking into client products and networks to figure out risks or weak spots.
