Man Utd ‘reach verbal agreement’ to sign Bayern Munich’s Mazraoui with transfer waiting on star to leave Old Trafford

MANCHESTER UNITED have reached a verbal agreement to sign Noussair Mazraoui, according to reports.

The Bayern Munich right-back is understood to be edging closer to a move to Old Trafford.

However, his potential arrival is being held up by the departure of a current United player.

Foot Mercato report that United have struck an agreement with Bayern for the signing of Mazraoui.

The Morocco international has also already said yes to the deal, having seen a move to West Ham fall through last week.

He had looked destined to join the Hammers, only for the transfer to collapse after the club failed to reach an agreement on his agent’s fee.

West Ham are now pushing to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka from United, the report adds, which is delaying Mazraoui’s arrival.

The two clubs have agreed a deal, with talks ongoing over personal terms.

Wan-Bissaka joined United from Crystal Palace for £50million back in 2019.

He has since made 190 appearances but entered the final year of his contract this summer.

Mazraoui has spent two seasons with Bayern after joining the German giants from Ajax in 2022.

He previously played under United boss Erik ten Hag in the Netherlands before his move.

Man Utd player ratings vs Arsenal

Here's how SunSport's Neil Custis rated Man Utd players against Arsenal

ANDRE ONANA – 7: The Cameroon international was all action but not just with his hands. As a possible sign of things to come next season, he constantly looked to set moves going from the back.

AARON WAN-BISSAKA – 7: Quite why United are actively looking to sell the former Crystal Palace right-back is a mystery.

HARRY MAGUIRE – 7: Bounced back and looked free from the calf injury cost him at the end of last season.

LENY YORO – 6: Lost possession in the first minute only to get back and tackle Gabriel Jesus. Went off injured on 35 minutes.

HARRY AMASS – 5: United need back up at left back and he will be hoping to provide it but the way he lost Gabriel Jesus for Arsenal’s equaliser got him a talking to from the boss.

TOBY COLLYER – 6: Some good penetrating runs here after strong games against Rosenborg and Rangers too.

CASEMIRO – 6: Looks a lot leaner than this time last year in pre-season. The Brazilian looked to be on his way this summer but looks hungry to stay and contribute.

MASON MOUNT – 8: Good first-half playing in the number ten role. Looked sharp constantly trying to get on the ball and had a good shot well saved at the near post.

AMAD DIALLO – 5: Struggled to get in the game but provided a good assist for Mount to get a shot in.

MARCUS RASHFORD – 7: What a great 50 yard ball he produced from deep in his own half to set up Rasmus Hojlund for his goal.

RASMUS HOJLUND – 7: Hit a tenth minute goal as he barged past Ayden Heaven and fired a shot through the legs of Karl Hein. Then moments later he was down injured.

SUBSTITUTIONS

HANNIBAL (for Hojlund, 16) – 5: United reverted to playing with a false nine when he came on but the move lacked potency.

RHYS BENNETT (Yoro 35) – 6: Looked solid after coming on but was hooked at the break.

JAMES SCANLON (Wan-Bissaka 45) – 5: Too easily breezed passed by Martinelli on his way to the winning goal.

JONNY EVANS (Maguire 45)- 6: The veteran remains a good presence at the back to call on.

SAM MURRAY (Amass 45) – 6: On at left back and put in a decent second-half.

MAXI OYEDELE (Casemiro 45) – 6: Worked hard in front of back four.

SCOTT McTOMINAY (Mount 45) – 6: Acted is a false nine in tandem with Wheatley and made some good forward runs.

ANTONY (Amad 45) – 6: We watch and still wait to find out why United paid £86m for him.

CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN (Collyer 45) – 6: Showed his experience to get back and head behind when Arsenal threatened.

JADON SANCHO (Rashford 45) – 5:  His second game of pre-seaosn as the uneasy truce between himself and the manager continues. Scored winning penalty in end of match exhibition shoot-out.

ETHAN WHEATLEY (Hannibal 45) – 5: Came on and swapped with McTominay in a false nine role but did not get one decent chance. Only one to miss in end of game exhibition shoot-out.

WILL FISH (Bennett 45) – 5: Appeared to pull out of a challenge on Martinelli allowing him to score and was berated by Onana.

The 26-year-old made 137 appearances under Ten Hag, winning six trophies including three Eredivisie titles.

He would become the Red Devils’ third signing of the summer if he completes a move to England.

United have already brought in Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro ahead of next season.
