Olympics 2024: Host cities play well but costs a spoilsport

Paris hosted a grand Olympics opening ceremony with dazzling performances and a cost-conscious approach, promising to break the trend of overspending. However, the Games' budget soared to at least $8.87 billion, exceeding initial estimates by more than $1 billion. Despite efforts to repurpose existing facilities, adapting venues for Olympic standards has proven costly and time-consuming, challenging the sustainability of hosting the Games in the future.
