Samsung leak reveals what next big free upgrade will look like – and the layout appears eerily similar to Apple’s iOS 18
SAMSUNG leaks have revealed what the next big free upgrade will look like.
The tech giant is expected to release the first Android 15-based One UI 7.0 this week.
However, ahead of the official release, several design aspects of the company’s next major One UI version have been leaked.
The leaks have revealed a fair bit about Samsung’s upcoming Android 15-based One UI skin.
Reports indicate many of the design changes will take inspiration from iOS 18, with the Korean company revamping the system apps to focus on one-hand use.
The beta program could even start in the last week of July.
But you won’t have to wait that long to get your first look at some of One UI 7’s significant changes.
A report from SmartPrix gives us a glimpse at One UI 7’s Connected devices menu in Settings, revealing the rounded UI edges for a sleeker look.
Another screenshot from leakers shows off the revamped Quick Settings panel, which also has rounder edges and seems to be iOS 18 inspired.
Samsung has also seemingly changed the icons for several of its stock apps, including Camera, Clock, Contacts, Gallery, and Weather.
The icons for the Phone and Samsung Internet apps have been redesigned slightly for a more three-dimensional look.
Like Xiaomi’s HyperOS and iOS 18, Samsung plans to split the notification panel and Quick Settings dropdowns.
Swiping from the left will bring up the notification shade, while a swipe from the right will open Quick Settings.
Taking a cue from iPhone, Samsung will reportedly introduce a similar notification feature in their One UI 7 update, reports Android Police.
Dubbed Continuity notification, it will show video call notifications from your phone on other nearby devices.
This feature allows regular or video calls to be continued from a Galaxy phone to a Galaxy tablet or a Samsung TV nearby.
You will also be able to seamlessly hand off video calls between devices, according to reports.
Based on all the leaks so far, Samsung appears to be planning some major design changes with One UI 7.
These UI improvements will complement all the new features Google is introducing with Android 15.
At the start of the year, Samsung announced new Galaxy S24 handsets with the promise of seven years of operating system and security updates.
And the firm has continued the trend with its latest additions, the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6.
The duo were officially unveiled at an event in Paris on Wednesday with new AI features and some smaller hardware upgrades.
Samsung’s much-hyped AI translation tools are no longer restricted to the company’s own apps, announcing that they will work on third party apps too soon.
There’s also new AI noise suppression so that translations are clearer.
The tech giant has made some improvements for photography lovers too, with auto zoom to detect the subject and automatically zoom to capture the best angle when the Flip is in flex cam mode.
And AI powered portraits can transform your photos with fun alternative art styles as well.
Samsung’s seven year pledge follows a similar move by Google which offers the same amount.
Who offers free updates longest?

For the latest premium Galaxy phones released in 2024, Samsung says it will provide at least seven generations of OS updates and seven years of security updates.
OnePlus
At the launch of the OnePlus 12, OnePlus committed to at least four years of Android updates and five years of security updates.
Xiaomi
Xiaomi offers four years off Android updates and five years security updates.
Google
For the Pixel 8, Google said that devices would receive at least seven years of support.
