One dead in east Columbus hit-and-run motorcycle crash
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- A 50-year-old man died after a motorcycle he was driving was hit by an SUV that then fled the scene of the crash in east Columbus.
According to Columbus police, Clarance Smith, 50, was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle east on Scarborough Boulevard at approximately 4:20 p.m. Friday.
As the motorcycle passed the intersection of Park Crescent Drive, a Lincoln SUV was driving west on Scarborough Boulevard and turning onto Park Crescent Drive. The SUV and the motorcycle collided at the intersection, throwing Smith off the bike.
Smith was pronounced dead at a local hospital at 7:34 p.m.
After the crash, the driver of the SUV fled the scene, police said.
