Renewed yellow weather warning, hot and clear

A yellow weather warning issued by the meteorology office will be in place from 11am until 4pm for high temperatures on Monday, on the heels of a previous warning which expires at 8am.

The weather will be mostly clear with temperatures set to rise to 40C in the interior, 34C on the west coast, 38C on the remaining coasts and 30C in the higher mountains. Winds will initially be south-easterly to south-westerly, locally to north-westerly, light, 3 Beaufort, gradually turning south-to north-westerly, light to moderate, up to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be mainly calm in the morning becoming slightly rough in the afternoon.

Overnight will be clear. Temperatures will drop to 26C in the interior, and on the southeast, east and west coasts, 23C on the southwest coast, 25C on the north coast and 20C in the highlands. Winds will be south-to north-westerly, later north-easterly, light, 3 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly rough.

Tuesday is expected to continue clear with some low clouds on the coasts, with Wednesday and Thursday bringing a chance of afternoon showers in the mountains.

Temperatures on Tuesday will remain steady with a slight drop on Thursday, remaining, however, above average for the season.
