Three people in hospital with heatstroke

Three people are currently being treated in the intensive care unit of Nicosia general hospital for heatstroke, state health services (Okypy) spokesman Charalambos Charilaou said on Monday.

Their conditions are serious, he added.

“We have a 34-year-old who is no longer intubated but remains in intensive care and on Sunday another patient was admitted to intensive care, a 66-year-old woman who has been intubated, while a 78-year-old woman remains in a normal ward with heatstroke”.

A 25-year-old woman who was also being treated for heatstroke has been released.

“Every day we have cases of heat exhaustion reporting to A&E of public hospitals, who are given the appropriate care and then released,” he added.
