In his video, which has racked up over 1,500 likes, he said: “Growing a lawn with hand tools, £4 Asda seeds and no special equipment.”

Although he had soil, he decided to add a £2.50 bag of top soil over it.

Martin then added the Asda £4  Multi-Purpose Lawn Seed and put a net over the top for protection.

Just six days in, the grass was already starting to peep through the net and looking a healthy green colour.

By day 14, the grass was nearly covering the entire front garden, but still had a few patches.

However, patience was key, and Martin shared how he watered the lawn twice daily and added grass feed onto the lawn every other day.

By day 23, it was looking so long and luscious, Martin decided it was time for its first cut.

Martin shared how the garden was completely perfect by day 32 – and people were seriously impressed by his bargain process.

One person said: “Nice job bro.”

A second wrote: “Very impressive, good job bro.”

A third commented: “Nice to see someone growing grass in their front garden and not just paving it, nice job.”

Martin replied: “We have a full decked and artificial grass rear garden.

“It’s great for no maintenance but as sad as it seems I enjoy looking after it.”

He added to Fabulous: “I wanted to transform the space as it was waist high weeds when we moved in.

“I had tried weeding and feeding and regularly cutting but it was just so dry, sharp and unpleasant to walk on.

“It was hard work digging it all up by hand but I can’t believe how quickly it’s grown and how well it filled in within the first month.

I’m over the moon with the results we had considered Turfing but it’s more enjoyable growing your own and requires pretty much the same aftercare with regular watering etc so would happily do this again.”

King Charles’ gardener Jack Stooks, who has worked at Highgrove House for 20 years, previously revealed that the secret to green grass could be a £6 product from Home Bargains.

Speaking to Fabulous in association with Alt Index, Jack revealed that you should be adding a fertiliser or plant food with nitrogen as a key ingredient to get “super green” grass.

He explained: “Adding nitrogen into the soil [is key].

“You can either get a mix, it’s sort of more like a water base mix that you can pour into a watering can and at a ratio of whatever it might be on the can.

“Ideally you want to start adding that when you know it’s going to rain, when it’s not too dry, because otherwise that will just kill the grass off as well, it just sort of burns it.”

How to stop yellow patches on your lawn

STEVEN Bell, Managing Director of Paving Shopper, shared his insights on the true causes of lawn discoloration and how to maintain a lush, green lawn…

1) Sharpen mower blades

2) Prevent fungal disease with nitrogen fertiliser

3) Mow frequently

4) Aerate lawn with a fork

Another option is to get a granular feed to put over the lawn.

Jack continued: “You can hand spread – putting on gloves – all over the lawn, but always make sure it’s well watered in so that you don’t get the scorching of the grass from it.

“Whichever nitrogen type fertiliser you choose to use, it will give you a rough guide as to sort of put this on and then do it again in three months or so, and then do it again in a month.”

You can currently pick up a 1kg bag of Miracle-Gro All Purpose Soluble Plant Food, which contains nitrogen for your soil, for £5.99 from Home Bargains.
