Paris: Ramita Jindal faltered in the women’s 10m Air Rifle final on Sunday to finish seventh at the Paris Olympics 2024. The Indian who was at the bronze-medal position till the ninth shot, scored a 9.7 which brought her down. She could never recover after that and even had a shoot-off against Oceanne Muller of France after both were tied at 145.3. But a sensational 10.8 from Muller ensured Ramita’s exit at seventh place. South Korea’s Hyojin Ban took gold while the silver was taken by Chinese Yuting Huang. Audrey Gogniat took bronze.

In danger of being eliminated, a 10.5 pushed Ramita to sixth place even as Norway’s Hegg Jeanette Duestad made an exit. But the Indian could not save herself after that. She was placed fourth at one point but failed to maintain the momentum.

In the qualifications on Sunday, she performed exceedingly well to make the final in the fifth place.
Ramita, the Hangzhou Asian Games bronze-medallist in the event, beat World Championship medallist Mehuli Ghosh and Tilottama Sen at the domestic trials to make it to Paris Games.
