The ‘Light Green Crinkle Maxi Skirt’ is available in an inclusive size range going from 8-24 and is the perfect lightweight material for summer.

Sainsbury’s bosses say: “You’ll look and feel great in our light-green maxi skirt.

“It features an elasticated waistband, relaxed fit and made from a satin crinkle fabric.

“Wear with black sandals and throw on a black blazer for a modern style option.”

Their Tu Clothing creative stylist Katrina also hailed the “must-have” skirt that’s “easy to throw on” with any outfit.

She said: “[It’s] the foundation to any wardrobe and will carry you over from season to season.

“Maxi skirts are a wardrobe hero and so easy to throw on.

“Pair with trainers and a tee for a pulled together daytime look or pop on your favourite heel to take you into the evening.”

And shoppers seem to be in full agreement, as one gushed: “This sage green midi skirt is a gorgeous colour for holiday and really easy to dress up or down.”

“Oh I love the sage skirt”, said someone else.

A third wrote: “The green skirt outfit is perfection.”

A fourth chimed in: “Argh I’m obsessed!”

“I have been loving Tu this summer”, exclaimed a fifth.

Meanwhile, a sixth added: “This is a lovely skirt. It’s not really green, I’d say it borders on a yellowy green. The material is quite thin but it seems well made and I’ve had some nice comments on it.”

It’s not the only Tu Clothing piece that’s been causing a frenzy with fashion fans recently.

The supermarket’s ‘Black Smudge Spot Crinkle Mesh Midaxi Dress‘ has been hailed as a “standout piece” that can be worn in summer AND autumn – and it’s only £20.

Their creative stylist Katrina told shoppers to pair the “gorgeous” column frock with some gold jewellery for the perfect summer night look.

Is supermarket fashion the new high street?

DEPUTY Fashion Editor Abby McHale weighs in:

The supermarkets have really upped their game when it comes to their fashion lines. These days, as you head in to do your weekly food shop you can also pick up a selection of purse-friendly, stylish pieces for all the family.

Tesco has just announced a 0.7 per cent increase in the quarter thanks to a ‘strong growth in clothing’ and M&S has earnt the title of the number one destination for womenswear on the high street.

Asda’s clothing line George has made £1.5 million for the supermarket in 2023, 80 per cent of Sainsbury’s clothes sold at full price rather than discounted and Nutmeg at Morrisons sales are also up 2 per cent in the past year.

So what is it about supermarket fashion that is becoming so successful?

Apart from the clothing actually being affordable, it’s good quality too – with many being part of schemes such as the Better Cotton Initiative.

A lot of the time they keep to classic pieces that they know will last the customer year after year.

Plus because they buy so much stock they can turn around pieces quickly and buy for cheaper because of the volumes.
