All Creatures Great and Small star confirms fate of beloved character ahead of series 5
ALL Creatures Great and Small star Callum Woodhouse is returning for series 5.
Callum, who plays beloved vet Triston Farnon, was absent from the show’s fourth season.
The character was missing because he was called up to serve in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps.
However, it has not been confirmed that he’ll be making his way back to Yorkshire next season.
Callum took to X, formerly Twitter, to tease his return to fans by sharing a tweet from a Channel 5 fan about the series premiering on Netflix next month.
“Woohooo All Creatures Great and Small coming to Netflix next month.. ready to rewatch all over again,” the tweet read. (sic)
Callum shared the post with his 7,000 followers, who were delighted at the suggestion the series will be available to watch on the streaming platform from August 14.
This comes after Channel 5 confirmed Tristan will make an “unexpected return later in the series.”
The broadcaster also confirmed that alongside Callum, the main cast will all be reprising their roles for the upcoming fifth season. This includes Nicholas Ralph as vet James Herriot, Samuel West as Siegfried Farnon, Anna Madeley as Mrs Hall, Rachel Shenton as Helen Herriot, Patricia Hodge as Mrs Pumphrey, and series 4 newcomer James Anthony Rose, who plays Richard Carmody.
Although plot details for the upcoming fifth series are being kept under wraps, Channel 5 has shared a brief synopsis about what viewers can expect.
The synopsis teases: “The series will continue to bring the stories of James Herriot to life as we return to Darrowby to rejoin our unconventional much loved Skeldale Family and the colourful ensemble of farmers, animals and townsfolk living in the Yorkshire Dales in the 1940s.”
It seems that the series will pick up after the event of the dramatic Christmas special which saw Helen give birth. Unfortunately, James was kept away by his RAF training, missing the birth of his and Helen’s son, who is named after his father.
Series 5 should see James make a swift return to Darrowby, though.
Channel 5 has also confirmed a sixth series of All Creatures Great and Small is in the works
Series 5 of All Creatures Great and Small is expected to air later this year, but thanks to the popularity of the show, it has already been renewed for a sixth series too.
The two new series will consist of six episodes each, as well as Christmas specials. Filming will continue to take place on location in Yorkshire.

All Creatures Great and Small follows the life and work of veterinary surgeons, James Herriot and Sigfried Farnon, set to the stunning back drop of the Dales.
The show is filmed in the Yorkshire Dales, which is where All Creatures Great and Small is also set.
Some of the show was also shot in Arncliffe, the village used for some aspects of Skeldale House, and Yockenthwaite Farm.
A local pub called The Devonshire was used as the exterior for the fictional inn, The Drovers Arms.

The series is, of course, based on the bestselling collection of stories by author and real-life vet James Herriot, and there are plenty of stories left to tell.
Star Samuel added: “I think we’re all still having a very nice time. And there’s lots and lots of things that we would still love to film. We seem to have made our home in the Dales now. They’re getting on with us better, aren’t they?”
