A stretch of excessive heat begins today, few showers this afternoon

An EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING has been issued for the most of viewing area for Monday through Thursday. A HEAT ADVISORY has been issued for our northern counties through Thursday.

Not much relief from the heat as we are starting this morning with temperatures in the upper 70s and lower 80s. It's still breezy in some areas with wind from the south at 10-20 mph. Today is the first day of a stretch of excessive heat.

Highs today climb into the upper 90s and lower 100s with feels like temperatures around 110°. It'll be breezy as well with wind out of the south from 10-15 mph gusting to 20 mph at some times.

In the later morning hours, some showers and storms develop and last into the early afternoon. This will hinder the excessive heat temporarily in some areas. We expect this heat to last through most of the week.
