Injured man pulled from sea after diving in at Cape Greco

A 26-year-old man was pulled out of the sea on Monday after diving into it from above the sea caves at Cape Greco.

The man was extracted from the sea by firefighters and then transported by ambulance to the Famagusta general hospital in Paralimni, where he is undergoing treatment.

The joint rescue and coordination centre (JRCC) swiftly pointed out that diving into the sea at that location is “strictly prohibited” and deemed as “hazardous” due to increased erosion of the rocks by the sea.

Signs are prominently displayed at the site warning people of the dangers.
