Morrisons shoppers can’t believe it after spotting ‘best ever’ Xmas essential on shelves – it’s not Quality Street tubs

MORRISONS shoppers were left stunned after spotting a Christmas essential on the supermarket’s shelves – five months before the festive season.

A customer who manages a food reviewing page found mince pies at the supermarket and shared the news on social media.

The shopper took a photo of the typical Christmas treat on sale at the major supermarket and wrote on the Newfoodsuk Facebook page: “Mince Pies are back at Morrisons!!”

The box, which contains six shortcrust mince pies, costs £1.75.

The customer didn’t specify which supermarket they visited, but the find created mixed reactions among other shoppers.

One excited mince pies lover described the treats as “the best ever”, with another saying the supermarket’s traditional sweet pies are “delicious”.

Someone else commented: “These are the only mince pies I eat they are delicious you know Christmas is on its way when they bring these bad boys out.”

Another added: “These are so LUSH. One is never enough with a cuppa tea.”

And one more said: “To be fair, these are THE best mince pies by a country mile.”

But some people were left puzzled and said it’s still too early for mince pies, pointing out that Christmas is five months away.

A person wrote: “You’re having a laugh!

“Keep foods seasonal instead of rushing the seasons ahead.

“Time is ticking by far too quickly as it is.”

Another shopper agreed, saying: “It’s July!”

One commented on Facebook: “Too early. Not acceptable till October or I’ll be sick of them by Christmas. Lol”

Some people agreed that it’s early, but argued that we should normalise eating mince pies all year round.

A person said: “Yes, yes, yes! Why do these only get made at Christmas? I love them all year round!!”

And another added: “If you eat them with some ice cream then it makes them seem less christmas-y! I can’t wait!! x”

We’ve checked other supermarkets as found that currently, mince pies are out of stock at Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda, and Aldi.

How to save on your supermarket shop

THERE are plenty of ways to save on your grocery shop.

You can look out for yellow or red stickers on products, which show when they’ve been reduced.

If the food is fresh, you’ll have to eat it quickly or freeze it for another time.

Making a list should also save you money, as you’ll be less likely to make any rash purchases when you get to the supermarket.

Going own brand can be one easy way to save hundreds of pounds a year on your food bills too.

This means ditching “finest” or “luxury” products and instead going for “own” or value” type of lines.

Plenty of supermarkets run wonky veg and fruit schemes where you can get cheap prices if they’re misshapen or imperfect.

For example, Lidl runs its Waste Not scheme, offering boxes of 5kg of fruit and vegetables for just £1.50.

If you’re on a low income and a parent, you may be able to get up to £442 a year in Healthy Start vouchers to use at the supermarket too.

Plus, many councils offer supermarket vouchers as part of the Household Support Fund.

The mince pies were spotted on the supermarket’s shelves just days after foodies found tubs of Celebrations and Quality Street at their local Morrisons.

The anonymous food blogger told Newfoodsuk: “Spotted today at Morrisons! Holidays are coming!”

Foodies took to the post to poke fun at the retailer’s decision to stock the festive treats.

One said: “5 months lol”, while another welcomed the decision: “Well it has felt like that with today’s weather!”

A different user chimed in to agree: “Might as well start preparing for Christmas. This summer been sh***.”
