I made £267 on Vinted in just over a week after following a simple tip – it’s insane

SELLING used items such as clothing has become a common practice, with many sites like Vinted, Depop, and eBay now available.

People have even sold hundreds to thousands of pounds worth of items, sharing their nifty hacks online.

One of these people is Mya Turner, who posts under the username @myalturner3 on the platform.

She explained she relisted everything on her Vinted page nine days before making the TikTok – and is totally changed her sales.

“I included keywords, I changed the background [in the pictures] to a clear white background – the items were the same [but] the items were reduced,” Mya said.

Maya relisted 60 items in that time and d 18 of them were sold, while one was returned to her.

She said in total the 60 things she listed totalled £655, of which she sold £320.

“I actually ended up selling all of those items for £267, so that includes £53 worth of taking lower offers.

“The best item that I had sell would be the two coats I had up.

“One went for £55 and the other went for £85.”

She added her boyfriend had helped her create a spreadsheet so she could keep track of everything she was selling.

Mya got asked about Vinted’s policy about resisting and she said it was allowed “as long as you delete the items first and re-list like 5 minutes later.”

She adds she finds it best to upload around 5 pm and to take new pictures for the re-listings.

On Vinted’s reupload query page, they state: “A button to Re-upload your item will appear in the conversation screen if the buyer cancelled the order before it was sent.

This option is only available in this situation, but it will instantly restore your listing with the original photos and info (which you can also edit or update).

“If you sold an item but it was returned to you, please upload a new listing for it.

“Always make sure you have the item in your possession before uploading the new listing.”

They add: “You’re allowed to resell recent purchases from Vinted. Be sure to take new photos for the listing because you can’t use other members’ photos.”

Do you need to pay tax on items sold on Vinted?

QUICK facts on tax from the team at Vinted...

  • The only time that an item might be taxable is if it sells for more than £6,000 and there is profit (sells for more than you paid for it). Even then, you can use your capital gains tax-free allowance of £3,000 to offset it.
  • Generally, only business sellers trading for profit (buying goods with the purpose of selling for more than they paid for them) might need to pay tax. Business sellers who trade for profit can use a tax-free allowance of £1,000, which has been in place since 2017.

In the comments, people couldn’t believe the hack and said they would be trying it.

One person said: “I relisted nearly all mine yesterday and i’ve sold 8 things so far and things are definitely getting more views and favourites as I’ve included keywords in the description this time [heart eyes emoji].”

“Oooo might do this!” a second penned.

Someone else wrote: “This is great info. I’ve got Vinted also and it’s been slow recently.”

A fourth commented: “That’s my weekend plans sorted [grinning emoji].”
